Next Steps - Adult Classes

Adult Classes meet on Sunday mornings for study and encouragement. The following are the class offerings for Sunday, March 5 through April 9.

Jesus Moving Forward - 9:00 am - meeting in room #L038

Everything about the Christian faith finds its focus in Jesus Christ. The foundation for how we live out our Christian life is found in how Jesus Christ lived his life. Fully aware of his ultimate purpose for coming to earth, Jesus now draws even clearer distinctions between living for the world and living for God. His parables and comments are increasingly sharp as he moves toward Jerusalem. In this unit, you will discover the priorities of Jesus in the way he dealt with people and discuss the challenge of how to demonstrate those same priorities in our relationships today.

Bible Memorization - 9:00 am - meeting in room #L014

Charles Swindoll has said; “I know of no other single practice in the Christian life more rewarding, practically speaking, than memorizing Scripture. No other single exercise pays greater spiritual dividends! Your prayer life will be strengthened. Your witnessing will be sharper. Your attitudes and outlook will begin to change. Your mind will become alert and observant. Your confidence will be enhanced. Your faith will be solidified.” Most of us would like to have greater strength in this area; we have simply given ourselves too many excuses. This unit will help you with the practical tools to make progress.

One Another Statements - 9:00 am - meeting in the View

When the New Testament describes the responsibility each Christian has to those in the church the term "one another" is used a hundred times. The sheer repetition of this phrase would imply to us that this obligation is of significant importance. Among those occurrences, wide ranges of relationships are targeted. In this session, we will take a closer look at a sampling of those commands with a focus on how they should be fleshed out with the people God has placed in our life.

Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus - 9:00am - meeting in room #L017

With all the talk in the news about Islam and with many of us getting to know Muslims in our area, how do we discuss the differences between our faiths? This session, based on the book by Nabeel Qureshi, provides a window into Muslim life in America. Learn how Christian friendships, patient listening, the Word of God, and the work of the Spirit are being used to bring people to Christ. You will gain insights into the cultural, intellectual, and theological barriers that often stand in the way of Muslims accepting Christ as well as how to engage in profitable conversations.

Bruised Relationships - 9:00 am - meeting in room #L026

This class is about healing. Life is full of relationships such as spousal, parental, siblings, best friends, next-door neighbors, co-workers, etc. They don’t always go well, either because of you or the other person(s). As a result of these difficult times, we find ourselves wounded and bruised as the relationship is bruised. A relationship cannot be healed unless we heal first. This class is about focusing on our hearts first with the healing that is found in God’s Word. We will cover topics such as understanding the healing process, dealing with common emotions, forgiveness, letting go of the past, creating new memories, and contentment. Each class builds upon the week’s prior topic, so consistent attendance is important to gain the most value from your time. Psalms 34:18 and Psalms 147:3
